Do you ever wish there was more transparency in how employers operated, especially in the hiring process? Well, that’s exactly what this page is for! We are going to be real with you about this job, the expectations and give you all the information we can to help you figure out if it’s a good fit for you. No games. That’s just not how we roll.
Who's We?
First things first, who the heck is this “we” mentioned above? Who is Trinity Professional Counseling Services? Right now, Trinity is operating as a solo practice and consists of a rockin’ 2 person team: Amy Taft, LPC and Rachael Phillips, a super talented virtual assistant. Amy founded Trinity in 2016 in Cameron, MO. She has received tremendous support from her community in building and running her practice since that time. Members of the rural community in and surrounding Cameron have repeatedly expressed their gratitude to have mental health professionals nearby at all. It is difficult for them to access the care they need otherwise. Now, Amy wants to give back to that community and offer more services.

The Vision
Trinity believes that people in rural communities should not have to drive a million years to the next big town to get quality care. It’s hard enough when you are struggling and need counseling to get organized and make the effort to make it to an appointment as it is. But we’re also realistic. We know that no one therapist can “be all things to all people” and actually be good at their jobs. That’s what Amy learned the hard way as she built her solo practice. She felt torn because on the one hand, there was a tremendous amount of need for child therapy in the community she loved, but on the other hand she knew that working with children was not her calling. For a long time she just referred out and referred out again and again for the many requests she received from parents and caregivers to work with their children. But, as 2020 rolled around she started feeling as though there was more she could do to meet this need. So she got to work. She began prepping her solo practice to grow into a team of dedicated individuals who share her passion for improving access to quality mental health care.
How do I fit into all of this?
Well that depends. We said we were going to be real here. The honest answer is this may not be the right fit for you. But, maybe, just maybe, this is exactly what you have been looking for. Let’s find out together which is true for you.
You’ll love working for Trinity if...
You'll hate working for Trinity if...
Bottom Line:
Trinity is a place where you can be cared for while you care for others. We know working in the mental health field is not for the faint of heart so we are going to throw lots of support at you to make sure you can thrive in your role. Rachael is here to back you up for all those pesky admin tasks. Amy is here to hold you accountable to engaging in solid self-care practices, provide support for continuing education and work alongside you to market your services. We want you to feel supported because we want to see our mission statement lived out not just in our clients' lives, but in all of our team members too. That is to say we want to see you abundantly thrive in such a way that your inherent joy, peace, and strength overflows in the lives of others. We want to see you becoming the best version of yourself while you help your clients do the same.
- You have a strong sense of your personal values and professional ethics and aren’t willing to compromise.
- You want to work with a close-knit team that treats you like a human being and not a therapy machine.
- You value self-care and sustainability a lot. A whole lot. Because we do too.
- You want to have more control over your schedule and the clients you see. We get that.
- You are a go-getter who loves the challenge of networking and building a caseload.
- You enjoy building relationships. Relationships are everything in a rural community.
- You’re tired of working alongside people who are so focused on the “bottom line” they forget about serving the clients. Serving others with excellence is one of our core values.
- You want the perks of working in a more relaxed private practice setting, but do not want the stress of running your own business. We've got that side of things covered!
- You firmly believe being a child therapist is your calling and you’re passionate about it.
You'll hate working for Trinity if...
- You want to walk into a job and have a full caseload on day one. That’s probably not going to happen here. We’re working hard to get the word out and will promote you like crazy, but building a caseload takes time.
- You want a salaried position with benefits. That's just not what this position is. You will get paid based on the billable hours you accrue which may vary from week to week.
- You would rather have clients served up to you on a silver platter. There’s going to be some work you need to do to collaborate with us to get those referrals.
- You’re wanting something for the short-term. We want to find people who will be part of the team for at least 3 years. And realistically, it takes some time in private practice for the community to trust you and for your word of mouth referrals to gain momentum. If you’re not willing to or able to invest in that, this probably isn't the job for you.
